Rudyard Kipling Poster

Kipling stated that red wine, books and ammo were important in life and he was right!

A man can never have enough … ammunition; Kipling was right!

This poster, based upon a quote by the famous English writer Rudyard Kipling, sums up my personal thoughts about some of the things that contribute to a full and happy life. Many people might say that those views are dated, and that I am living in the past for saying that, but frankly I agree; in a way I do live in the past. Further, I do not apologise for living in the past as there are many aspects, of the ‘modern’ world, that are less than desirable. Indeed, the modern world seems to be intent on tearing itself apart and honesty, truth and morality have been sacrificed on the alter of liberalism. This is a very sad state of affairs and, in my view, should be opposed at every opportunity.

Further, I ask you, how can the latest and ‘greatest’ computer game, movie or sporting event compare with the pleasure of sipping a glass of red wine, reading a classic and well written book and dreaming of expending some ammunition in some far-off land of adventure? Many of the  so-called ‘pleasures’ of the modern world are corrupt, decadent and will only further add to the decay of our society. Kipling represents a different time where the rules and norms, that bound society together, were far more moral than today. It could easily be argued that they were too moral, and therefore, prudish but I think I would prefer Kipling’s world. Today, vocal minorities and self-interest groups are running rampant and pushing their sick and twisted views onto the rest of society. In the process, these misguided fools are eroding all of our freedoms. Give me the old ways, please!

Rudyard Kipling was one of those ‘larger than life’ characters from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries who will live on through his writings and his life achievements. Born in 1865, he passed away at age 70 in 1936. Amongst his most famous literary works you will find such stories as ‘The Jungle Book’, ‘Kim’ and, my personal favourite, ‘The Man Who Would Be King’ which was turned into an excellent movie, in 1975, and starred three of the best actors ever; Sean Connery, Michael Caine and Christopher Plummer.

The poster, above, was created through the inspiration of one of Kipling’s many quotes. Kipling captured those thoughts beautifully with this quote and so I created the above poster to portray his thoughts visually. Without a doubt, we all could use a good supply of red wine to ease the stressed of the modern world, plenty of books to exercise and expand our intellects and lots of ammunition in these dark and dangerous days.

This poster is the first in a serious of posters that will depict quotes and saying by some of history’s greatest characters, so please revisit this site in the future. If you would like a hi-resolution copy of this poster, so that you can print it and display it, please contact me and I will arrange that for you.
